CHUCK ISRAELS JAZZ ORCH - Jazz Titan ThursdaysChuck Israels, revered as one of the preeminent bassists in the world, GRAMMY winner has performed and recorded with Billie Holiday, Benny Goodman, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, Bud Powell, Coleman Hawkins, Stan Getz, Bill Evans, J.J. Johnson, Rosemary Clooney, Tony Williams, Eric Dolphy, Jim Hall, Patti Austin, Gary Burton, George Russell, the Kronos String Quartet, and countless others.Among Chucks many recordings as a bassist, some outstanding ones include: Coltrane Time, with John Coltrane; My Point of View, with Herbie Hancock; Getz au Go-Go, with Stan Getz; and many recordings with the Bill Evans Trio, including The Town Hall Concert; The Second Trio; Trio 65; Live at the Trident; and Time Remembered. In 2020 Chuck won a GRAMMY for his work with opera star Joyce DiDonato on her recording Songplay As an acclaimed composer and arranger, Chuck has written for Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Berkshire Music Center, Richard Stoltzman, Eastman Jazz Ensemble, Swedish Radio Jazz Orchestra, West German Radio Jazz Orchestra, North German Radio Jazz Orchestra, Radio Denmark Jazz Orchestra, Hannover Symphony Orchestra, Metropole Orchestra, and others.JAZZ TITAN THURSDAYSThe Jack London Revue proudly presents Jazz Titan Thursdays, featuring the Mel Brown B3 Organ Group and the Chuck Israels Jazz Orchestra.Join us at Portlands top jazz club to honor two of the most influential names in Pacific Northwest jazz music: Mel Brown - drummer for Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, and the Temptations and Chuck Israels - bassist for Billie Holiday, Benny Goodman, Herbie Hancock, and Bill Evans. LOWDOWN BRASSEmbodying the vibrant Chicago music culture, LowDown Brass Band is a one-of-a-kind horn ensemble weaving the rhythm of the streets with conscious hip hop, reggae, and soul. Rigorously touring, LowDown has performed on the most unique stages, from the Montreal Jazz Fest to the Cotai Jazz Fest.Despite the last four years, LowDown has stayed busy, releasing Three albums, The Reel Sessions, LowDown Nights and $itizens of the World, which showcase their unique sound and further push the boundaries of their genre. Mansell Plantation in Camden, MS on sharecropper land, John Primer migrated to Chicago in 1963 with a dream of performing on stage with Muddy Waters.He got his start on Chicagos famous Maxwell Street playing for tips with Pat Rushings band, then getting hired at the famous Theresas Lounge as the house band rhythm guitarist for the great Junior Wells with Sammy Lawhorn. He was taught by all the legendary bluesmen.From there he was noticed by Willie Dixon. After going on tour with Willie, Muddy Waters noticed him and took John as his bandleader fulfilling his lifelong dream! After Muddys untimely death John went to work with Magic Slim as a Teardrop for the next 13 years.He was signed by Atlantic Records in 1995 and went out independently with his own Real Deal Blues Band. He has over 95 recordings and several on his own Blues House Productions record label. He currently tours with his own band all over the world. He is truly one of the very last real deal, traditional, bluesmen alive today!John Primer is a Blues Hall of Fame Artist with 3 Grammy Award Nominations.
